Memorial Day is almost here
Posted on May 27, 2010
There are a lot of activities going on in Steamboat this weekend and hopefully the weather will continue to be beautiful! Don't miss the amazing deals downtown, weather it's the sidewalk sales that start on Friday or the $20.10 meals that are offered at numerous participating restaurants. In addition, this weekend is the 30th anniversary of the Yampa Valley River Festival. For more details on that, check out the Steamboat Pilot.
Also, a bit of a more underground activity is the 5th annual BAF river regatta. Starting location is TBD and prizes will be awarder for most creative raft and "most tact through the c-hole" (this is not a shortened vulgar word, it's the common way to refer to the treacherous Yampa River rapids such as the b-hole, c-hole, and d-hole). This is a crazy race with serious antics, a bit of debauchery and tons of ...

Spring changes
Posted on May 19, 2010
Spring is here and Steamboat is going through some changes. Steamboat City Council approved up to $2.5million for base area improvement at the ski area to start this summer. It was a unanimous decision and will provide many jobs and much desired activity at the base area this summer. If you're up near the ski area, make sure you stop in at The Powder Room which is open through mud-season. Also, take a tour of One Steamboat Place - but make sure you have a guide because it is easy to get lost.
There is quite a bit of pine tree removal going on near Thunderhead high speed lift. Some walking and riding trails may be closed and the disc-golf course will not be returning there this year.
Due to crazy spring weather (or maybe just normal Rocky Mountain spring weather) construction on Highway 40 through downtown is behind ...

Spring has arrived!
Posted on April 15, 2010
With Spring in full force in Steamboat, the number of people in town has slowly dwindled. Spring Break starts for most of the Steamboat Schools after the bell rings tomorrow. I wonder if there will be anyone left in town after that? That, along with the fact that taxes are due today, could be seen as a real downer... But, if you've never experienced shoulder season or "mud season" as the locals will call it, you really are missing out on the true small town experience. Here's why you will love it...
Traffic is gone!
No waiting at restaurants, bars, post office, etc...
The core trail is open and you will definitely meet someone you know if you're out walking it.
Fishing the Yampa!
The Golf course in Craig is open
The BEST deals in the valley go on during mud season:
Mambos Italiano has the best ...

February and the Winter Olympics in Steamboat
Posted on February 18, 2010
This February has been full of activities, festivals, and community spirit in Steamboat Springs. Things started off with a bang when the town came together to celebrate the Olympians that are from Steamboat, live in Steamboat, or are somehow associated with Steamboat (many of the winter athletes have trained for a season or two here on our various hills, jumps or tracks). On a snowy evening, thousands of fans gathered around a huge stage set up in the middle of downtown Steamboat to see off the current athletes on the way to the Vancouver Winter Olympics. The spectacle was capped by a fireworks show from the top of the county courthouse.
Later that weekend, main street was closed down again for the 97th annual Winter Carnival. Local high school students displayed their snow sculpture artwork along the side of Lincoln Avenue and the street was shut down on Saturday and ...

Green to Gold
Posted on October 06, 2009
As fall settles into the Yampa Valley and the leaves change from green to gold, the office of Prudential Steamboat Realty and the Vanatta Team remain a hub of activity. First, we say good bye and good luck to Stephanie Peasley, the marketing manager for Pam Vanatta, as she returns to Fort Collins to complete her degree. In her place we welcome Mark Dudley, a Steamboat native who has been working in Real Estate for just over three years. He takes the position of Marketing Manager and Associate Broker to Pam Vanatta.
In local news, Steamboat 700 narrowly escaped defeat and will be back in front of city council in just over a week. The developers are optimistic and looking ahead to what promises to be a heated meeting on October 13th. Click here to check out the Steamboat Pilot article.
Also, the Steamboat Springs Core Trail will see ...
